Movement Alchemist - Choreographer - Creative Producer

Matt Shilcock is a South Australian based contemporary dance theatre artist. Diagnosed at birth with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, commonly known as ‘brittle bone disorder’, he spent much of his youth in a wheelchair before learning to walk at the age of fifteen.

Matt has been performing since 2009 and has worked as a choreographer, dancer and actor with many local, national performing arts companies, including Murmuration Dance Theatre (Aus), No Strings Attached Theatre for Disability (Aus), Restless Dance Theatre (Aus), Kaldor Public Arts (Aus) and internationally with Kaaos Company (Finland), Wilman Dance Company (Finland), Mass Box (China), Touch Compass (NZ), Full Radius (USA), Candoco (UK), Independence (UK), FreeWill Theatre (HK) and the Van L Dance Company (UK).

Matt is an associate artist with The Australian Dance Theatre (July 2019 to December 2020), continuing the development of his own choreographic methodology and movement language OsteogenuineOsteogenuine seeks to combine Matt’s passions for dance and choreography with his interests in Alchemy, esotericism and holistic and alternative healing. Matt’s work Alchemia Exteriores explores the development and application of choreographic scoring systems in the creation of original dance works.

As creative producer Matt has extensive experience in the development and creation of original performing Arts projects. From the initial funding and planning stages to ongoing project management and artistic realisation.
